Overdraft Fee Changes
At Evans Bank we are committed to listening to our clients and are constantly looking for ways to improve our products and services.
We want to change the way people think about banking by building an experience around what matters most to them. Guided by our mission to improve the communities we serve; we’re delivering banking solutions that improve the financial fitness of our customers.
We have recently made some changes to our insufficient funds (NSF) and overdraft (OD) policies, which took effect on November 1, 2022, that will benefit you:
- lowered the Insufficient funds/overdraft per item fees from $37 to $29
- eliminated OD/NSF/extended overdraft fees from being assessed to Savings accounts
- placed a daily limit on the number of item fees to 3 items per day
- implemented a $5 overdraft cushion so that, if your account is overdrawn by $5 or less, you will not be charged a fee.
- changed our posting order and now process your debit items in ascending dollar value order (except for Debit Card purchases, which will continue to post based on the date and time of the transaction) allowing us to pay more checks and debits on your accounts.
- lowered the extended overdraft fee, charged on day 5, from $37 to $29 and eliminated the $5 per day extended overdraft fee that was charged on successive days
- added the ability for our customers to link a savings account with their checking account to help cover overdrafts
We are confident that these changes will benefit clients when they find their accounts with insufficient funds to honor their checks and debits.
If you find that you are overdrawing your account regularly, please know that we will also offer a checking account which will not allow overdrafts, completely avoiding those fees, in early 2023. We have also produced a video which will provide tips on how to manage your funds more effectively and efficiently.
It is also important to know your account balance, and we have made it easy to do this via online banking and in the Evans mobile banking app. You can even set up alerts that notify you when your balance drops below any threshold that you set. Please stop by a branch or contact our Customer Experience Center for help setting this up.
Trust that we will continue looking for ways to better serve you and, as always, thank you for banking with Evans.
