Evans Bank has promoted two associates to Bank Officer from its Internal Audit group, Stephanie Coughlin and Carlos Zuniga. Coughlin and Zuniga are responsible for overseeing and developing audit programs to review and assess the effectiveness of internal controls in conjunction with financial regulatory requirements and reporting.

Coughlin joined Evans in 2014 as an Internal Auditor and was recently promoted to Senior Internal Auditor. She previously worked as an Accounting Manager for Security Credit Systems, Inc. and served in the United States Navy as a Postal Clerk and Petty Officer Third Class on the USS Essex LHD-2.

Coughlin holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Business Management from D’Youville College and holds the Internal Auditor Practitioner designation from the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Certified Sarbanes-Oxley Expert (CSOE) certification from the Sarbanes Oxley Compliance Professionals Association. She is a board member and event coordinator for the Western New York Chapter of the Institute of Internal Audit and volunteers with Holy Angels Church. She resides in South Buffalo, N.Y. with her family.

Zuniga joined Evans in 2010 as a Senior Accountant and has served in various roles, including Accounting Supervisor and Internal Auditor, before being promoted to Bank Officer and Senior Internal Auditor. Previously, Zuniga served in financial management roles with M&T Bank and HSBC.

Zuniga holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is working toward attaining the designation of Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors. In the community, Zuniga has served as a board member and is currently a coach for the Amherst Soccer Association. He also volunteers with Habitat for Humanity. Zuniga resides in Amherst, N.Y. with his family.
